Release Day for The 9th Pawn!

Madison and Henri’s story is here! I’ve always had a soft spot for the Mad Hatter so I’m soooo excited that his book is out. If you were worried about the looming threat of a necromancer in the the last book, or want to start exploring Wonderland here, today is the day!

A playful necromancer. A prince looking for love.
And a quest to save a sleeping princess.

Madison is just a simple hatter fulfilling the whims of the fussy aristocracy. Or at least he’s pretty sure he was in one lifetime. Now more of a tea drinking sort with a pension for necromancy. After meeting a curious young prince named Henri, Madison is ready to kiss as many frogs as it takes to win his heart. In all of his lifetimes, Madison has never met anyone as captivating as this magical prince.

To prove his sincerity as a suitor, Madison is sent on a quest to help stabilize the kingdoms that he helped tear apart. After thinking love was in his past, can Madison now keep the spark of romance they ignited together alive?

The 9th Pawn features hurt/comfort, first times, and a forbidden tea-filled age gap romance staring M/M leads as well as a secondary F/F relationship.

One of my favorite things about romance books is that you can truly have standalone sequels. It’s so fun to me as a reader to just pick and choose what tropes I want, and have been interwoven in to the bigger world around them.

But I know some people absolutely honor release order, so if you are interested say hello to Malcolm Wolf. In The 8th Rank, Mal’s a powerful mage without any memories, searching for his rebellious childhood crush Robin in a magic-fueled journey that could end with the murder of the Queen of Hearts.

Where does your journey in Wonderland begin?

Introducing The 7th Queen

The 7th Queen is the newest tale in the quickly growing Big Bad Magic series. A world where fairy tales combine with the queer coded villains trope. Then gives them all the happily ever after ending they truly deserve.

Join Claudia as she stumbles across white rabbits and discovers a wondrous world of magic.

“We’re all villains here. . .”

You can grab this Sapphic short story set before the events of THE 8TH RANK for free by signing up for Rose Sinclair’s newsletter! Once entered the exclusive story will sent directly to your email. Don’t miss this tale full of wonder and women loving women.

We asked author Rose Sinclair, why writing a series like this was so important to them.

“Before The 7th Queen, and the other stories in the Big Bad Magic series, I did not consider myself a romance writer. I was a science fiction or fantasy writer who might have characters fall in love. That all changed in The 8th Rank, and the upcoming The 9th Pawn. The driving force of these characters is their love of someone else. And within that journey for Mal and Claudia they learn to love themselves.

Because that self love, that acceptance of whatever you desire, and being brave enough to confess that truth in a world that makes you feel monstrous is something often missing. Too often there’s a false dichotomy that says art must be either queer pain or # Positive Vibes Only. That isn’t true to anyone’s life. Retelling fairytales and accepting “villainy” allows readers to not only see these characters in a new way. But maybe be seen themselves.

The 7th Queen is a short story prequel gives me the chance to focus on hope, on the quiet moments between Claudia and Alice. Because it’s often the softness that get’s us through the pain in any world. If F/F can add to the care we have for each other (fictional or otherwise) then I’d be honored if you signed up for my newsletter.

Happy Release Day To Pharos!

Hackers, faeries, screaming rockabilly neighbors.

Rachel Sharp first seamlessly merged our world with one of fae in the first book Phaethon, and Pharos is a brilliant addition to the series.

Here’s our full review of the second:
The amount of heart this sequel holds is as magical as the mythical creatures it features. This time around we are presented with more of the book’s timeless, yet now changing, world. A story filled with situations that may be dire at first glance, but reveal hope with the aid of new friends and old fae.

By the end, you’ll want to believe in fairies too. Pharos is everything a sequel should be, making the Phaethon Series even more of a must read event.

August’s Great Ace Club’s Book

It is a mystery! No, really. This month is a detective story, from not one, but two featured authors. Please welcome Katey Hawthorne and Jenna Rose. They are authors of Kanaan and Tilney Investigations. The third book in the series will be released Aug 28th, and to celebrate we are working together to give you the first ebook in the series!

About The Case of the Arms Dealers

John Tilney—praeternatural pyrokinetic and mystery author—has noticed the bottom dropping out of the market for his usual gothic fare, so he goes to Lowell Kanaan, PI, for a crash course in noir. Lowell, a cranky wolf-shifter detective, isn’t sure why he agrees to let John shadow him, though it might have something to do with John’s weirdly endearing honesty…and pretty lips. John thinks he’s found the perfect detective novel hero in Lowell, but it isn’t long before he realizes he doesn’t want Lowell for his book, but for himself.

As they become entangled in a supernatural whodunnit involving the Zombie Mafia, black market body parts, and shady insurance deals, their partnership grows closer—and hotter. But when it comes down to the wire, Lowell’s wolfish protective side threatens to drive John around the bend, or at least out of the office. Good thing John’s as much sunshine as he is fire; hopefully it’s enough to help them catch a murderer before they end up in literal pieces, too.

John Tilney is a biromantic ace, just like one of the authors! 😀

Mission Statement Change

Some big changes are going to how we run as a blog.

I’ve been thinking about publishing as an end destination. But in my experience, it’s the journey that frustrates authors. Makes conditions in which they end up quitting the thing they love. And I’ve been looking to change that. Create a paradigm shift.

Working as a team is my go-to. That’s probably no surprise if you look at my novels, or at the Fuck Yeah Asexual blog, or Creative Aces Publishing. But the tricky thing with partnerships is people aren’t always as committed as you. Often times it’s not even through their fault. We are all complicated people trying to make good for ourselves within systems that are broken.

But I’m still here. And I’ve been looking for an answer for at least a year now. I’d get an idea, and think, this is the one. But then it wasn’t quite right. So I’d start another thing. And the problem with these ideas is that my passion keeps getting fragmented. New trees planted, but the forest becomes lost.

Today, I aim to fix that. Over the next month you’ll see a rebranding of Creative Aces Publishing and what it’s mission statement is. In part, because I realized I don’t want a company, I want commune. An author collective where we help each other create books. Aces, disabled people, any voice that is being ignored under capitalism.

Instead of exclusively taking a book from query to release. I want to help authors however they need. To gain the ability to take on projects I’m passionate about even if they don’t publish with us. There’s a lot to publishing, and I want to be there for as many or as few steps as the author needs. Still at no cost to them.

The inspiration for this publishing shakeup can be traced back to a quote painted on a wall in my old art class. “Art is the triumph over chaos.” Those words have been with me since high school. Each time I narrowed my focus I got further and further away from that quote. At the risk of sounding cheesy, in 2020, I have a new clarity that the answer I’ve been looking for has been with me the whole time.

That is why I’m consolidating all projects dealing with books under the Art Over Chaos banner. The divides between personal author blogging, the Fyeah book features, and the publishing itself will dissolve so more art can be created and celebrated.

What it means for this blog: Instead of simply a personal author blog with some crossposts about books, it’s going to become a hub for publishing, authors, and book blogging. Only the following months the theme will change and it will offer so much more than before. Thank you for coming with me on this journey, and I hope we can work on something together soon!
